Think Back...
What is your earliest memory of reading? My earliest memory of reading is from when I was very young. I remember my parents reading to me throughout the day and my mom would read me a story out of a children's Bible every night before I went to be. My earliest memory of me reading on my own is from the third grade. I remember reading in the AR program. I loved reading at this age.
Who read to you?I remember so many people reading to me when I was a child. I had my parents, grandparents, aunts, church members, and many others. Did they read to you often? Yes.
What was your favorite book as a child? I didn't really have one favorite but I loved the Dr. Seuss books. I also liked "Where the Wild Things Are".
Did you ever discover, love, and devour an entire series of books? I loved the "Ramona Quimby" and "Goosebumps books".
Did you like to read as a child? I loved reading as a child. There were very few moments when I was not reading something.
Was reading a joy or a struggle? I found reading to be a joy when I was younger.
Did your teachers read aloud regularly? I remember a few of my teachers reading aloud to the class when I was in the earlier grades. Each week we would go to the library and the librarian would read a story aloud to the class.
What books did they read?I can't remember any specific books but they were normally books that went along with the curriculum.
Did a book ever make a difference in your life? It sound kind of silly but when I first started kindergarten, I was miserable. I was very attached to my mom and I did not want her to leave me. At the beginning of class my teacher read the book, "The Kissing Hand", and it really helped me.
Do you choose to read for pleasure now? I do not read for pleasure now but it's because I have a busy schedule and it's hard to fit in time for reading anything other than textbooks.

ReplyDeleteI remember reading the Goosebumps books that my son brought home after he went to bed. I enjoyed them, but kind of felt like a dork being twenty something and reading kids horror/mystery books.
ReplyDeleteMy parents also read the bible to me at night. I loved that they always did that with me.
