Assignment 1

The earliest memory I have of reading was in kindergarten. My teachers had story time twice a day. One was in the morning and one was after lunch for nap time. I remember enjoying the books and finding them very relaxing. My mom never read to us as children she never had time being a single parent. She has always read to the granchildren now that she has more time. She says now that she wishes she had made time to read to us. I can't remember a favorite childhood book. The one book I remember the most is Jack Tales. In my elementary school we had a story teller who would come in and tells us the stories why acting them out. I have discoverd and loved several series. My favorite type of books are series books. I always want to know what happens next. I fall in love with the characters and never want the stories to end. I have always loved to read. By the time I was in middle school I was reading adult books. My freshman year in high school I read The Pillars of the Earth. It was one of the hardest books to read, but I finished and loved it. One of my instructors was reading the book later in the semester and we discussed the book. He was surprised to find that I had read it. I did learn somethings about the book I had misunderstood. I can remember that all through school until I graduated my instructors read to me from various books. They would choose a book that they liked which matched the curriculum and read aloud. Sometimes it was group reading, but someone was always reading. The book I can remember that made the biggest difference in my life was the Left Behind Series. I was hooked from page one and in tears through most of the book. It changed the way I viewed my life and the choices I made. I read all of the time for pleasure. Every spare minute is spent reading something. Over the summer break I read twenty-seven books of various sizes that I can recall. Michelle Turvaville

  1. Michelle,
I have just started reading the Left Behind Series. I love them too. It is so easy to make a connection with the characters and the ordeals that they face.
