Because of Winn-Dixie: "OPAL"

I am a little girl
I wonder so much about my mom
I feel so alone in this world
I don't know why the Preacher is the way he is sometimes
I need someone to be my friend
I am a little girl
I go about my day as if things are just fine
I miss my life in Watley
I wish I wasn't so lost
I feel like my life is a puzzle with a few missing pieces
I am a little girl
I found someone to relate to
I love Winn-Dixie because we need each other
I can depend on Winn-Dixie to be my friend
I haven't ever felt this love before
I am a little girl

  2. It captures her loneliness and vulnerability eary in the story. It is interesting to compare this with her character at the end, she had grown alot.
